uffizi room 8 dei lippi

Filippo Lippi and his son Filippino stand out in this room, the first as one of the leaders of the Florentine Renaissance with works infused with great sweetness in the figures, the latter also known to be a pupil of Sandro Botticelli and for bringing to fruition his father's style and the teacher.

Filippo Lippi was very attentive to the contemporary Florentine sculpture of Luca della Robbia and Donatello; he also observed Flemish painting, from which he recaptured the rendering of the preciousness of the materials, as stands out in the Coronation of the Virgin and the famous Madonna and Child and two Angels.

Some of Filippino's masterpieces are also to be found in this room, such as The Adoration of the Magi and Madonna and Child with Angels, as well as works by another artist of the same period, Alessio Baldovinetti.
