UOMO CON LA LETTERA
The painting attributed to Memling is a portrait of a young man turned three quarters with the eyes almost turned to the viewer. The identity of the portrayed figure is still unknown, maybe he was one of the many italian merchants in Anversa that usually ordered pictures to local painters. The man wears a black mantle and a hat of the same color, you can see even a white shirt underneath. The expression is serious and concentrated. Typical flemish element is the hand of the man, holding a letter, leaning against an hypothetical parapet coinciding to the picture border.
