MADONNA IN TRONO COL BAMBINO TRA OTTO ANGELI
Before ending in the Uffizi Gallery, this work of art was placed in the Church of Saint Francis in Pistoia. The Madonna enthroned in the foreground is surrounded by eight angels divided into two symmetric groups placed to the sides and behind her the back. Mary and Jesus look at each other in a silent conversation marked by the beautiful child gesture (with a hand on his chin and the other grabs a finger of Mary). Very original is the effect by which the mantle of the Virgin bends to the ground without considering the curvature of the chair: it's a typical effect of the experimental spatial research of those years.
