DAMA COL PETRARCHINO
The girl portrayed, which is still unknown, addressed to the viewer a tender and accomplice look remarked by a hint of a smile. She sits three quarters holding in her hands a Petrarchino, much in vogue and read at the time and depicted in many other portraits. The dark background leaves that attention focused on the face and hands of the girl. Given the unusual conversational tone, the picture is considered among the masterpieces of Italian portraiture.
