AUTORITRATTO GIOVANILE
Rembrandt made this painting in Amsterdam at age 28, it is one of 80 known portraits of the painter. Rembrandt may have wished to fix on canvas his maturation as an artist and as a man. In this self-portrait we see him dressed in a rich brown velvet robe and adorned with a heavy gold chain. His blond curls are covered by a dark hat.
