uffizi room 45 pittori veneti umbri nordeuropei del 400

In this room we find a selection of works by 15th century Venetian, Umbrian, Flemish and German painters that were formerly exhibited in rooms 18 to 23 that are currently closed to the public due to renovation works.

Exhibited here are masterpieces by Andrea Mantegna, such as the Madonna of the Caves and the Triptych with Adoration of the Magi, Circumcision, Ascension and the Holy Allegory by Giovanni Bellini; Perseus freeing Andromeda by Piero di Cosimo; Saint John and Child and Madonna with Child and Angels by Antonello da Messina; also included are works by Pietro Perugino and Luca Signorelli.

Superb works by Albrecht Drer, of which the Galleria possesses possibly one of the largest bodies of work in Italy, are found here; among these we are reminded of the Portrait of the Painter's Father and the Adoration of the Magi.

There is also a sampling of paintings by Hans Memling and Lukas Cranach the Elder.
