uffizi room 48 pittori francesi xvii secolo

In general, this room is hung with paintings of a sacred nature, all by 17th century painters. Among these are Charles Le Brun, Jacques Stella and Simon Vouet.

Also worthy of note is the Portrait of de Bossuet by Hyacinthe Rigaud, the most important female portrait painter of the court of Louis the 14th, whose portraits, today, are very much appreciated as a source for the history of costume and fashion as well as the physiognomical likeness.
