uffizi room 56 dei marmi ellenistici

Room dedicated to the exhibition of ancient Hellenistic marble pieces characterised by marked twists and languid physiognomies that Vasari considered decisive for the birth of the so-called "Modern Manner", represented by this space up to the entire main floor of the gallery, starting with Andrea del Sarto in the next room.

Walking through the room, one finds replicas of a respectable panorama of masterpieces from the 4th to 2nd century BC: the Farnese Hercules, Venus and Spinario in which an increasingly free arrangement within space surfaces.

The Gaddi Torso, on the other hand, considered an original from the second century BC, given its extraordinary quality, illustrates the passion for strongly modelled muscles.
